The IDF spokesperson allowed the publication of the names of the 4 Givati soldiers killed in the Rafah incident Monday night: Sgt. Almog Shalom, 19, Sgt. Yair Levin, 20, St.-Sgt. Eitan Karlsbrun, 20, and Maj. Tal Pshebilski Shaulov, 24.
Another seven fighters were also injured to varying degrees as a result of the collapse of a building captured by the Givati forces.
The incident took place in the Shabura refugee camp in Rafah. Apparently, the Givati reconnaissance unit launched a combined attack with the Nahal brigade on a built-up and dense area where armed terrorists are suspected to have been.
The forces approached a three-story building and threw explosive charges into it. This is a procedure that is often carried out to ensure the area is clear of booby-traps. For a reason that is still unknown, the explosive charges apparently caused the activation of a dangerously charged arena, which led to collapse the building on the fighters.
