Globes: Most retail sectors experience rise in May sales compared to previous year

The food, cafes, and computer sectors experienced an increase of 14% compared to the previous May.

Purchases in most retail sectors this May did better than the equivalent month last year, according to Globes' index in cooperation with Phoenix Gamma Israel.

According to the index, the sectors experiencing the greatest increase were food, cafes, and computers. They are followed by tourism (7%), electrical devices (6%), clothing (5%), and optics (3%).

However, the last week of May was a relatively weak one compared to the rest of the month, with a decline in sectors such as optics (14%) and computers (7%) compared to equivalent weeks before the war.
