Israel-Gaza War, Northern Front

Bennet: "The message coming in from the abandonment of the north is dangerous to our future...The Israeli government and those responsible for its security need to recalculate their path and turn things around."

Former Prime Minister Naftali Bennett addressed the fires breaking out in the north due to Hezbollah rocket fire today (Tuesday), saying that it creates the impression that the state is simply not being run.

In his statement, Bennet said "the state is not being run. Israel is bereft of leadership. There are hard days, but the sense that someone is in charge, even in hard days, is not a luxury. It is an existential threat.

"We need to save the north. The Galilee is going up in smoke. Fire is spreading. Hezbollah is firing heavy salvos at Nahariyah, Katzrin, Metulah, Kiryat Shmonah, and towards all the border towns. Places which were flourishing and beautiful have become ruins. Some of the residents who were evacuated are already planning their lives elsewhere."

Bennet added that "this is a serious strategic incident. And we mustn't normalize it under any circumstances. The message coming in from the abandonment of the north is dangerous to our future. In the north, center, and certainly in the south. The Israeli government and those responsible for its security need to recalculate their path and turn things around. We can do this. The Prime Minister needs to govern, and now."
