The President addressed the hostage deal proposal as revealed by President Biden this morning (Sunday), saying that he would give backing to Netanyahu and the government.

In a speech he gave at Hebrew University, he said that "in the wake of the speech of President Biden, I told the Prime Minister that I would give him and the government backing for a deal they would form to free the hostages."

The President added that "we must not forget as it says in our sources that there is no greater commandment than the commandment of redeeming captives and I add - especially when it comes to Israeli citizens which the state did not protect and defend. We must bring them home as part of a deal which will preserve the security interests of the State of Israel."
