American Ambassador Jack Lew addressed the question of the ICC's filing for arrest warrants against Netanyahu and Gallant, saying that he hopes the American response will make the judges reject the request.
In a special interview to be broadcast tomorrow (Wednesday) for Good Morning Israel with Efi Triger, Lew told of the government's revulsion at the request for warrants: "When President Biden describes the warrants as outrageous and shameful, this reflects the deep revulsion we have towards them. The United States questions the legitimacy of the procedure, in a way that I hope will have an effect on the judicial panel which will have to decide if it approves the request or not."
The ambassador also expressed optimism regarding the talks between the US and Israel on further operations in Rafah: "There are good conversations in the past few days between the sides in Israel and the United States and including the understanding regarding the need to protect the population in the area, most of which has been evacuated from there, and regarding the scope of the operation, such that if there is a more targeted operation, it can achieve important goals."
