Chairman of the opposition, Yair Lapid, wrote this morning (Tuesday) on his Twitter account that: "Independence Day will not be complete if the Israeli government does not announce that on September 1, residents of northern Israel are returning to their homes."
As you will recall, this is not the first time since the beginning of the war in Gaza and consequent rocket fire from Lebanon that residents of the North must be allowed to return to their homes. As a result, Lapid was attacked by followers, who claimed that he was shallow and superficial: "Do you prefer them to return to a dangerous area and endanger themselves?" one person asked.
Another surfer wrote: "Great, let them know they're coming home and when they finally start a war with Hezbollah, you will bark all day about the fact that 'this government put the citizens of Israel in existential danger.' Just shut up!!!"
