On Memorial Day: Protesters block aid to Gaza

The Coordinator of Government Operations and the security establishment tried to establish a new route for the flow of aid to Gaza, but protesters blocked the aid trucks before they reached Strip.

During Memorial Day for Fallen Israeli Soldiers, (Monday) aid trucks headed for Gaza attempted to pass via a new route from the direction of Hebron and southern Judea and Samaria.

Members of the Tzav 9 protest movement blocked aid trucks at the Tarkomia crossing near Hevron. The Tzav 9 movement (“Order 9”), is determined to continue protesting until all Israeli hostage are returned home. Tzav 9 is a reference to the “Tzav 8” emergency mobilization notices received by Israel Defense Forces reservists when they are called up for active duty.

Members of the movement expressed deep disappointment with the continued attempt to send aid to Gaza and even establish new aid routes over Memorial Day.

Members of the group said: "It is sad that on this holy day we are forced to stop the passage of treats to Hamas terrorists. We cannot allow Hamas to receive money off the backs of our fallen soldiers. More activists from all over the country are on their way here. No aid will pass until the last of the hostages is returned."

Yesterday, the IDF announced that it was opening a new, "Western Erez" crossing into northern Gaza, based on the government's directive and under increasing American pressure to flush Gaza with more aid.
