According to a report in the Washington Post, the Biden administration has made a concrete offer of an alternative to a broad Rafah operation to Israel.
Per the report, the administration offered Israel sensitive, quality intelligence which would allow the IDF to move in on Hamas leaders in the Gaza Strip and uncover their hiding places. They also offered thousands of tents, food, water, and medicine for Palestinians already evacuated from Rafah.
Earlier today, the IDF Spokesperson provided an update on the Rafah operation: "Forces of the 162nd Division continue the offensive against terror targets in eastern Rafah in the southern Strip. This is a focused, intelligence based operation. The IDF forces struck the launch sites from which projectiles were fired at Beer Sheva. Thus far, dozens of terrorists have been eliminated in the east Rafah area. We found significant ground infrastructure."
