gCaptain: US floating pier for Gaza coast completed, work continuing on causeway

Construction work on the pier has been shifted to the port of Ashdod due to adverse weather conditions nearer the Gaza coast.

Maritime news site gCaptain reported yesterday (Tuesday) that the US floating pier is more than half completed, with most of the work being done on the causeway.

According to gCaptain, over 1,000 soldiers and sailors are working on finishing the pier, which is meant to greatly facilitate the provision of aid to civilians in the Gaza Strip.

Construction of the pier was originally set to take place near the Gaza Strip but was moved near the port of Ashdod, some 18 miles from the Strip, due to adverse maritime naval conditions.
