Attorney General Gali Baharav-Miara gave the government the go-ahead today (Thursday) to shut down al-Jazeera's operations in Israel, subject to a cabinet vote, according to Kann 11. The vote is expected to come up for a vote already tonight.

The injunctions to be voted on are an order to cease broadcasts in Arabic and English via content providers in Israel, as well as the closing of offices and blocking of access to websites.

The Attorney General said there was a legal issue with the channel not being given a hearing before the injunction, but she did not claim there is a legal bar to signing the bans even without a hearing.
