The world vs. Iran: Italy announced this evening (Monday) that it would close the Italian consulate in Iran until further notice, following the large scale Iranian strike against Israel last weekend.

In his statement, Foreign Minister Luigi Di Maio said Italy will also consider additional sanctions against Iran or senior officials who attack Israel. Iran's attack was a serious mistake for Tehran." Still, he noted that Israel "profited from the world seeing the effectiveness of its air defense."

The Israeli embassy in Italy welcomed the move, saying that "Iran is the architect of global terror. It expands its influence everywhere, funds, supports, and trains terror groups throughout the world. In the attack, Iran exposed its true face, the face of the main promoter of global terror."
