After the IDF officially confirmed that the sons of Head of the Political Wing of Hamas, Ismail Haniyeh, were killed last night (Wednesday) in an airstrike in central Gaza, new details have emerged about the strike.

The attack was not approved by the Chief of Staff, nor by Head of Southern Command, Major General Finkelman because it was ordered in "real-time" and targeted Hamas operatives in the midst of terrorist activity.

Prime Minister Netanyahu and Defense Minister Gallant were also not informed in advance since it was accurate intelligence information obtained shortly before the attack and there was no time to inform them for fear that the opportunity would be wasted.

Security officials also said that one of Haniyeh's sons killed in the attack had been responsible for holding Israeli hostages in his home.
