A violent riot, during which extremists waved PLO flags and targeted police, took place yesterday (Tuesday) in Jerusalem.

After police attempted to detain suspects, protesters attacked police officers, blocked vehicles, threw debris and rocks, attempted to damage a police vehicle, yelled "Nazis" at the police, and set trash cans on fire, blocking the road.

One of the detainees presented the police with an "identity card" in which he is labeled as a "Jewish-Palestinian." It also states that the holder of the certificate believes in the "Torah of Israel" and is not subject to the power of the authority of the State.

Two suspects were detained and police were forced to disperse the crowd. The police stated following the incident: "We will continue to allow the freedom of protest within the limits of the law, but will not allow disturbances, violent riots, and any behavior that may endanger public safety."
