"We want them to return": President Herzog gives Rwandan President Kagame the hostages' disc

President Herzog met today (Sunday) with Rwandan President Paul Kagame, giving him the disc of the hostages on the 30th anniversary of the Rwandan genocide.

He later said in a speech that "I stood today with leaders from around the world to honour the memory of the victims of the genocide of the Tutsi people in Rwanda.

Three decades after these atrocities the world must look squarely at the terrible crimes and recognise the true horrors of genocide - the deliberate attempt to annihilate a people.

The world must not allow the politicisation of genocide, it must not allow the belittling of the horror of such crimes, and the degrading of the memory of the victims of genocide."
