"Boycott them:" Biden makes another dramatic move against Israel

After US President Biden got angry with Netanyahu for not increasing humanitarian aid to Gaza, he is now taking another step against Israel: Marking goods coming from Judea and Samaria.

The British Financial Times reported that the Biden administration plans to mark goods produced in Judea and Samaria as another step expressing a strong mistrust of the State of Israel. According to the report, which cites American officials, the move has not been conclusively approved - and is intended to increase pressure on Israel following "increasing settler violence against Palestinians in the West Bank," according to a Ynet report.

In previous years when Jewish products from Judea and Samaria were labeled, a long list of companies called for their confiscation and harmed the revenue capacities of the State of Israel.

Recall that until the Trump administration's decision in 2020, it was forbidden in the US to define products from Jewish settlements as "made in Israel." The Trump administration changed this, allowing Israel to label products from territories under Israeli control as "Made in Israel" like any other product.

The current step looks to cancel this policy and also exacerbate the one that preceded it. The US has already imposed sanctions against individual settlers accused of violence against Palestinians, but the current step constitutes a further deterioration in relations between the two countries and it now appears that the American administration is growing tired of Israel's defensive actions following the Hamas murder spree on October 7.
