With the increased readiness and fear of an Iranian response to the strike in Syria, IDF Spokesperson Daniel Hagari issued a special statement to the public this evening (Thursday), announcing that there were no changes in Rear Command's instructions.
Regarding the increased readiness, Hagari said that "we have been in a multi-front war for the past half a year. We look at the threats and defeat them all the time. We are treating every enemy and threat seriously," he noted.
According to the IDF Spokesperson: "We have planes ready for defense. IDF forces are well deployed and ready for a number of scenarios. We mustn't be complacent so let me stress in the same breath: there is no change in the instructions of Rear Command. If there are, we will update the public in every possible way."
GPS disruptions - in order to neutralize threats
Hagari then addressed the disruptions of the GPS system: "Over the last day, we initiated GPS disruptions to neutralize threats. It helps in neutralizing some of the threats, therefore we activated them. We are aware the disruptions cause inconvenience but this is a vital and necessary tool in our defense capabilities," he said.
He added that "during the war, we dealt with a range of threats fired towards the State of Israel - (missiles), drones, and cruise missiles. They were launched from a number of arenas from Yemen, Syria, Lebanon, and Gaza. By the way, most of them are made in Iran."
"We intercepted them at high rates with our defense systems and also by systems of our partners, of the US Army which is deployed in the area and also intercepts threats which fly towards Israel. We continue to manage the war responsibly and we will update you on any change."
In response to the Kann News reporter's question on the delay in the publication of the investigation of the mistaken killing of seven World Central Kitchen workers, Hagari responded: "We presented the serious incident in which the aid organization who gave people food and even helped the citizens of the State of Israel after October 7."
Hagari said that "we investigated it in-depth at the General Staff investigation mechanism, independently by Maj.-Gen. (res.) Yoav Arbel who presented the investigation to the Chief of Staff and it is now being presented to the Defense Minister and the Prime Minister. I believe we will then show it to the ambassadors and World Central Kitchen. We will release it to the public in a clear and transparent manner and this will happen soon."
