Opposition leader Yair Lapid is leaving next week for a political visit to Washington, D.C. During the visit, Lapid will meet with senior government officials, as well as members of the Senate and Congress.
According to Lapid's announcement, "the meetings will focus on strengthening strategic relations with the US, efforts to return the hostages, and [fighting with Hezbollah]."
As you may recall, last month Minister Benny Gantz went on a diplomatic tour of Washington, during which he met with Vice President Kamala Harris, National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan and other senior officials, with whom he discussed the war in Gaza, and hostages held by Hamas.
The visit caused an uproar in Israel because it took place against Prime Minister Netanyahu's wishes.
