IDF Spokesperson Daniel Hagari issued a statement to the press tonight (Monday), addressing the latest events in the war in Gaza and in the north. He also addressed Kann News’ question about drafting Charedim, saying “we will follow the law, present plans to the Defense Minister, and move on from there.”
“At the end of intensive operational activity, the IDF and the ISA completed the operation in the Shifa hospital, where we killed more than 200 terrorists, arrested hundreds of terror suspects from (Palestinian Islamic) Jihad and Hamas. Their interrogations revealed significant intelligence in fields which will serve us in additional actions,” Hagari said. “Hamas destroyed and ruined Shifa hospital, after turning it into a military command post. The hospital had more terrorists than patients or medical staff. It had some 300 patients and staff, and forces took care not to harm them as they were all evacuated from the complex. The patients received medical equipment, food, water, and more.”
Regarding the drone attack on the naval base in Eilat: “Tonight, an aircraft, made by Iran and guided by Iran, struck the base in Eilat. This is a very serious incident. We are investigating the incident to learn lessons and improve our defense.”
Hagari finished by answering a question regarding the senior Iranian officers reportedly killed in a strike near the Iranian embassy in Syria: “I don’t address this or that strike mentioned in the foreign media. We are focused on the war goals and we will continue to do everything which works towards achieving our goals.”
