IDF strikes PIJ war room near al-Aqsa Hospital; Hospital unharmed

The IDF struck a Palestinian Islamic Jihad war room from the air after careful preparation to ensure the nearby al-Aqsa Hospital remained unharmed and fully functional.

The IDF reports that it struck a Palestinian Islamic Jihad war room near the al-Aqsa hospital in the Deir al-Balah area today (Sunday), after careful preparation to ensure the hospital itself remained unharmed and fully functional.

The IDF noted that the presence of this war room and terrorists in the hospital's courtyard is further proof of the cynical use terrorists make of civilian infrastructure to hide from the IDF.

As part of an operation conducted by the 162nd Division under the direction of the IDF and the ISA, Nachal forces conducted sweeps of a number of buildings in Shifa Hospital.

There, including in the maternity ward, they found multiple weapons, including several mortar rounds, explosives, long and short range firearms and assorted ammunition. The forces also eliminated many terrorists hiding in the complex.
