A shooting attack occurred this morning (Thursday) on Route 90 in the Jordan Valley when a terrorist opened fire on a school bus and vehicles in the area. The vehicles that were shot at were able to get away and ended up in the nearby settlements of Na'aran and Naomi, where they reported the incident to security forces after receiving first aid.

The Magen David Adom reported that paramedics arrived at the scene, provided initial medical treatment and evacuated the wounded to Hadassah Har Zofim. The wounded were listed as a 30-year-old man in moderate to serious condition with gunshot wounds to his limbs, a 21-year-old man in light condition with a gunshot wound to his limbs, and a 13-year-old boy who was lightly hurt with injuries from glass shards to his face.

Apparently the two wounded are citizens who were driving by the scene of the attack when it took place. The bus carrying children was not harmed thanks to its bulletproof windows.

They set up ambush and shot at a bus full of children

According to initial reports, the terrorist set up an ambush on the side of the road and opened fire from a vehicle at a bus full of children as well as two other vehicles.

Bus shot at by the terrorists

The IDF stated: "A terrorist shot at a number of vehicles near the town of Ojah in the Jordan Valley. Our forces were dispatched to the scene, roadblocks were set up, and we began chasing the terrorist."

Emergency medic Lital Karowani recounted: "We were rushed to the entrance to Kibbutz Na'aran. We saw a vehicle with two men who said they were injured when they passed near Ojah. They were shot at but continued driving until reaching the entrance to Kibbutz Na'aran. One of the wounded was a 30-year-old man fully conscious with gunshot wounds to his lower limbs and a second was a 21-year-old with a gunshot wound to the leg. We provided medical treatment and evacuated them to the hospital. The 30-year-old is in moderate condition."

MDA emergency medic Uriel Reinos, who was at the scene in Na'ama, also related: "We arrived at the entrance to Na'ama and saw a 13-year-old with injuries to his face as a result of broken glass. We provided him with first aid and he was evacuated to Shaare Zedek Medical Center in light condition."

Israel's bus drivers' union commented on the incident: "This is not the first time that buses and bus drivers have been attacked by gunfire. Buses are a symbol of the State and because of this they are repeatedly attacked in an ongoing string of terror against drivers and passengers. It is time to promote bus security so that every bus will have a security guard as was the case in the past. The blood of the drivers and passengers must not be spilled in vain."
