After the details of the horrific attack in Russia carried out by ISIS terrorists that killed 143 people became known, MK Ahmad Tibi (Hadash-Ta'al) published a series of tweets on the social network X (formerly Twitter), accusing Israel of the attack. Tibi even liked a tweet claiming that, "Israeli intelligence operates ISIS."
Later, Tibi published an independent tweet, in which he tried to draw a comparison between the October 7 massacre and the Israeli and American response that followed, to the attack on the concert hall in Moscow. To draw this curved line between the two points, Tibi started from the assumption that Ukraine is responsible for the attack. The Arab MK later deleted the tweet, but screenshots of it are circulating online.
After ISIS took responsibility for the attack, Tibi realized his mistake and published a "clarification tweet": "I wrote before I saw the announcement about ISIS responsibility (which still requires verification because sometimes announcements about ISIS responsibility are initiated by another body). The meaning behind my tweet is the double standard of the US. And the double standard regarding the killing of civilians in Gaza," he wrote. "Any terrorist attack or bombing in the Russia-Ukraine war pinpoints the American administration's double standard."
In response, Minister Amichai Eliyahu (Otzma Yehudit) blasted Tibi: "He walks around the Knesset corridors wearing a nice suit. Throws out fake quotes about peace and coexistence. Meet Dr. MK Ahmad Tibi, adviser to the murderer Yasser Arafat, favorite of the Israeli media, a doctor, charmer, wretched anti-Semite and third-class conspirator."
