Senior political source: "Israel is not a client state of the US"

The source said that "we expect our friends to work to bring down the Hamas government and not the elected government of Israel."

A senior political source responded today (Tuesday) to an American intelligence assessment which stated the Israeli government is in danger of collapse due to the public “mistrust” of Prime Minister Netanyahu.

According to the source: “the citizens of Israel choose the Prime Minister of Israel and no-one else. Israel is not the client state of the US but an independent and democratic state whose citizens choose the government, we expect our friends to work to bring down the Hamas terror government and not the elected government of Israel.”

The report in question was prepared by the DNI, which addressed the war in Israel and the political situation, stating that Netanyahu’s status as leader is in danger as is the dominant rightwing party. They expect large-scale protests to possibly lead to a new, more moderate government.
