US Central Command announced today on X/Twitter (Sunday) that it conducted a joint operation with Jordan to drop needed food supplies on Gazan civilians in the northern Gaza Strip.

According to the statement, Jordan provided the meals which an American C-130 dropped on the Gazan civilian population, amounting to "over 11,500 meal equivalents, as well as other food including rice, flour, pasta, and canned food, providing life-saving humanitarian assistance in Northern Gaza."

The US has increasingly been looking for ways to increase aid to the Gazan civilian population in both the north and south of the Gaza Strip. Alongside its efforts to airdrop supplies, President Biden recently announced that America would be creating a temporary port of the Gaza Coast to supply Gazan civilians with potentially millions of meals.

Sal Mercogliano, a maritime historian and observer, noted that this project is fraught with logistical risks and dangers in a thread he also posted on X/Twitter.
