Axios: Biden to announce emergency maritime aid mission to Gaza in State of the Union address

President Biden plans to announce a plan to land aid to Gazan civilians at a temporary port in the Gaza Strip managed by the US military at the State of the Union address tonight (Thursday), according to Axios reporter Barak Ravid.

According to the Axios report, the operation is meant to resolve the difficulty in getting ships bringing aid to be able to dock safely and offload aid, and will be supplied via Cyprus.

This effort comes less than a week after America began dropping aid from the air on Gazan civilians, an effort involving not only the US but also Jordan, Egypt, the UAE, and others, and coordinated with Israel.

The Biden administration has repeatedly warned against an IDF operation in Rafah due to the presence of hundreds of thousands of war evacuees in the area and has demanded what it considers a credible plan to avoid harming them.

Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu rejected the idea of Israel not operating in Rafah at all at a speech he gave to a graduating class of the IDF's officer's course today.
