Defense Minister Yoav Gallant addressed the issue of shared bearing of the burden of army service today (Thursday) during a speech to IDF soldiers completing the officers’ course.

According to Gallant, “the draft and significant service in the IDF have great importance and significance in the State of Israel. The war and the security challenges we face require us to jointly share the burden of service. Everyone must bear the burden, all parts of the nation.”

He added that “The People of Israel cast their eyes to you, the graduates standing on the parade ground, ready to command and lead and with the words of Gideon the Judge – ‘from me you shall see and so you shall do’ waving above you. In looking to you, the knowledge that we have whom to rely on strengthens.”

The Defense Minister also stressed that he supports and gives full backing to the Chief of Staff in his internal inquiry into the IDF’s performance before and during October 7.
