During an interview today (Sunday) for the Knesset Channel, UTJ MK Yitzhak Pindrus said “those who do learn should not be touched, and those who don’t learn should enlist.” According to him, this whole issue is a matter of people who want to garner headlines.

“The Charedi position since the days of Rav Shach says that those who learn Torah should not be touched, and those who don’t should go enlist,” he stressed.

The issue of Charedim and the draft was reignited after Defense Minister Gallant’s speech where he said that without all parties agreeing to a draft plan, he would not submit a law proposal. This is especially pressing since according to deliberations in the Supreme Court, without a new law, Charedim will be legally subject to the draft beginning this April.
