Missing Girl

9-year-old girl disappears in northern Israel: "Our biggest case at the moment"

It's been 3 days since the disappearance of 9-year-old Heimnut Kasao from Tzfat and there is still no clue to the mystery. She was seen on security cameras entering a building but there's no documentation of her leaving it and all tracks have been lost.

Corporal Michael Gino, the commander of the search for Heimnut, said in an interview with Ynet that the assessment is that, "the building is the immediate and closest circle and we need to be sure that we have ruled out as much as possible that she is not still inside."

Gino added that the efforts to search inside the building are continuing. "Refrigerators, closets, warehouses, toilets, shelters and even the elevator shaft are being opened. We brought elevator technicians who opened shafts, looked above and below. The working method is to scan all the circuits from the building itself and outside. We use hundreds of police and volunteers, dogs, drones, and horse riders. We are searching with all the forces available to us."

Regarding the rumors that it took a very long time before they realized that Heimnut had disappeared, Gino answered, "We are awake to the reality and aware of the many rumors that are circulating on social networks and all kinds of platforms. The vast majority of them are not true...We know that at 7:30 p.m. on Sunday, we have a record of her entering the reception center. She was observed at this time by a family member handing out leaflets for the local elections. We have verified testimony that she was there. From around 8 p.m. onwards, no one saw her anymore. The gap is between 8pm and 10 p.m., when the police first received an orderly notification that she was missing."

Gino points out that they involved the Tsur unit of the prison service in order to find a direction for the investigation. The Commissioner also defined this as the central case of the Northern District. "We are checking all directions using all means at our disposal, and we are doing everything possible to find a direction and make a significant breakthrough."
