The Education Ministry issued guidelines today (Sunday) to school staff around the country to maintain a dialogue with students and parents about celebrating Purim in the current circumstances and avoid arriving in costumes which might cause "fear, panic, or harm to others."
The guidelines further stated that those who dress up should express creativity and happiness in their choice of getup while "avoiding endangering those dressing up and their surroundings."
Students who do arrive in a costume deemed to violate these criteria will be asked, in coordination with the parents, to change into something else.
A few months ago, a number of Ashdod students dressed up as terrorists as part of a TikTok challenge and armed themselves with plastic weapons. They were caught and subject to a 10-day suspension, according to the Jerusalem Post.
