The IDF Spokesperson announced today (Tuesday) that the 646th Reserve Brigade had completed its mission in the Gaza Strip after two months of warfare, and was now processing the results. During their operations, the soldiers of the brigade’s combat team eliminated many terrorists, found weapons caches, and destroyed strategic tunnels allowing Hamas to move north-south.
With the beginning of the maneuver, the brigade combat team began to operate to clear out and raid terror targets in the area of the camps in the central Strip, in the neighborhoods of El-Bureij, Nuseirat, and the “towers” neighborhood belonging to Hamas terrorists.
Once this mission was completed, the brigade went south to operate in the Khan Yunis area. There, they completed a brigade-level operation eliminating several terrorists and confiscating many weapons. Dozens of terrorists hiding amongst the populace were also arrested.
Brigade commander Col. Elad Shushan told the soldiers upon completing their mission that “We reached every hiding place above and below ground in the Gaza Strip and today the terrorists know very well that there is no safe place to hide, and their fate is sealed. We must embrace the bereaved families, the wounded, and accompany them forward. Dear soldiers, I am proud of you for the emotional reserves and strength you demonstrated. I am sure that this is what our fallen would have expected of us. That we continue in full force. The mission has not yet been completed, and I have no doubt that the brigade will present itself as much as needed everywhere, everytime.”
