Prime Minister Netanyahu responded to reports that he did not allow the Israeli negotiating team to return to Cairo, explaining that "Israel did not receive in Cairo any new proposal of Hamas on the release of our hostages."

The Prime Minister's office also said that "Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu insists that Israel will not give in to Hamas's delusional demands. A change in Hamas's positions will allow the negotiations to advance."

Representatives of the hostages' families called this decision an "outrageous decision which means a death sentence and willing sacrifice of 134 hostages who are wasting away in Hamas tunnels."
