The Sky News network in Arabic reported today (Tuesday) that Hamas approved the chairman of the Palestinian Authority, Mahmoud Abbas, to establish a technocratic government to rule the Gaza Strip. According to the report, Hamas' approval was transferred to Abbas through Qatar.

It was also stated that "Hamas' initial agreement to join the PLO was conveyed on the condition that this is related to a clear political horizon that will lead to a Palestinian state within the 1967 borders."

Last night it was reported in the Saudi newspaper "Asharq News" that Abbas will present to the Emir of Qatar Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani with a plan for the establishment of a new government, which would be transferred to Hamas.

Officials in the terrorist organization told the newspaper that they welcome the cooperation of the Palestinian Authority in the reconstruction of the Gaza Strip, but clarified that they will require understanding at every step - including approval of members of the new government and the nature of the body that will oversee the reconstruction.
