IDF Releases Friendly Fire Casualty Numbers From Gaza War

In response to a freedom of information request, the IDF released the number of IDF soldiers wounded in friendly fire and operational accident incidents. Details below.

The IDF released the number of wounded from friendly fire and operational accident incidents as of February 4 in response to a freedom of information request from the Movement for Freedom of Information and the Hatzlachah association.

According to the report, some 545 IDF soldiers have been wounded in operational accidents of all kinds since the beginning of the ground entry into Gaza: 24 from unauthorized fire, 54 from two-way fire, 31 from road accidents, 391 from explosions of ammunition and explosives as well as APV-related injuries, and 45 from falls, the weather, and so forth.

The IDF had previously released the number of IDF soldiers killed in operational accident incidents in response to a similar request by the Movement for Freedom of Information.

As of December 30, 29 IDF soldiers were killed in operational accidents and from two-way fire from the beginning of the entry into Gaza - 20 from two-way shooting or unauthorized shooting, and nine from other kinds of operational accidents.
