Hulda Gurevitz, known in Israeli society as the "Mother of the Wounded," the "White Angel," and the "Israeli Mother Theresa," passed away today (Tuesday) at 98, according to Walla News.
Gurevitz was mostly known for a lifetime of visiting wounded and disabled soldiers at Rambam Hospital in Haifa, but was also involved in many other efforts including helping youth, helping out at other hospitals, and founding associations of friendship between Israel and other countries.
A lifelong user of public transportation, Gurevitz's name was given to a boardwalk in the city of Haifa in her honor, and the committee giving her the Israel Prize for lifetime achievement in 2011 said she was "a model of dedication and giving to others and to all of Israeli society."
