Following an investigation by the Shin Bet and the Lahav 433 unit, charges have been filed against an Israeli citizen who impersonated an IDF officer and joined the fighting in the hours following the Hamas terror attack.

According to the indictment, on the morning of October 7, after the onset of Hamas' terror attack on Israel, the accused joined IDF activity, despite not being called up to reserve duty. He impersonated a Captain and presented himself as such to IDF officials, gaining access to classified information and documenting classified information through various means.

The accused was arrested and interrogated for offenses related to receiving and holding classified information without authorization and entering a military facility. However, security forces emphasize that he did not act with malicious intent and did not disclose classified information to unauthorized individuals. This is a serious incident that was already investigated by the IDF at the same time as the indictment was filed and lessons were learned accordingly.
