Released for publication: Corporal Shani Girmai, an officer in the Border Police's Judea and Samaria unit, fell during operational activity this morning (Sunday) in the Jenin refugee camp. According to the police statement, Sgt. Girmai ob"m was in a military vehicle that was hit by an explosive device.
Girmai, 19, from Karmiel, leaves behind parents and three siblings. Her funeral will take place today at 15:00 at the military section of the cemetery in Karmiel.
As reported, IDF and Border Police forces conducted anti-terror operations last night in the Jenin refugee camp. During the operation, a Border Police military vehicle was hit by an explosive device hidden on the axis, killing Cpl. Shani and injuriing four others. The injured were evacuated to Rambam Hospital.
Subsequently, an IDF combat helicopter provided air support for the extraction, firing towards suspicious areas. In addition, an air force aircraft targeted a group of terrorists who threw explosives and posed a threat to our forces. At least five terrorists were eliminated in the attack.
