It turns out that the difficult period that the State of Israel is going through affects the circle of life of nature, the anemone flowers were ahead of their time and began to bloom. And yesterday (Monday) they were joined in January by hundreds of jellyfish that Israeli citizens are used to seeing in the summer months who decided with the coming of winter to pay a short visit to the 'Rotenberg' power plant.
Starting last night (Monday), the employees of the Electricity Company at the "Rotenberg" power station, which is close to Zikim, are faced with a wave of thousands of jellyfish, which arrive at the station with sea water. It should be noted that this is a surprising and rare phenomenon for this season, since usually the jellyfish arrive in the summer season and not in the cold winter months.
The electric company states that their arrival may disrupt the station's operations. According to them, "This is a real hazard that can disrupt the production processes at the station. The jellyfish pile up in the filters at the power station, which prevent the jellyfish from entering the operating systems and are diverted to dedicated tanks, thus, regular activity of the power supply at the power stations is possible."
It was also noted that seawater is used in the coastal power plants of the Electricity Company to cool the production systems.
