A year since the establishment of the government, and the rotation is underway. The government has now approved appointing Minister Eli Cohen to the position of Minister of Energy and Infrastructure, instead of Minister Israel Katz; and to appoint Minister Israel Katz to the position of Minister of Foreign Affairs, instead of Minister Eli Cohen.
The changes are part of the rotation decided upon in the formation of the government according to which Cohen will serve in the first and last year of the term, while Katz will serve in the two years in between.
Due to the switch, the government also determined that Cohen will continue to serve as a member of the Ministerial Committee for National Security Affairs (the Political-Security Cabinet) not by virtue of his position.
All changes require the approval of the Knesset (ordinary majority), and the vote will probably take place tomorrow.
