The IDF announced this morning (Friday) that for the first time since the beginning of the war, 5th Brigade’s combat team has begun operating in the Khirbat Ikhzaa area, which Hamas used as the site for launching their raid on Kibbutz Nir Oz.

According to the IDF Spokesperson, 5th Brigade’s combat team under the command of Gaza Division, and operating alongside armored and engineering forces, launched their advance on Khirbat Ikhzaa in the southern Gaza Strip, where Hamas terrorists gathered for the attack on Nir Oz on October 7.

IDF forces are working to secure operational control of the area. So far, they have eliminated terrorists and attacked a significant number of terror targets including tunnel shafts, tunnel contours, and anti-tank missile positions. This is another intensive fight in which the IDF is involved.

During their activity in the area, dozens of tunnel shafts were located. IDF forces also located many weapons including AK-47s, pistols, grenades, mines, rocket launchers, and mortars. Engineering forces of the brigade combat team destroyed terror infrastructures located in the homes of the terrorists who participated in the murderous massacre committed by the Hamas terrorist organization against Kibbutz Nir Oz on October 7.
