Judea and Samaria, Terrorism, Iran

Defense Establishment: More Than Half of Hamas' Funding in Judea and Samaria is Iranian

The city and area of Jenin serves as the main cash-based clearing house for funding of both Hamas and Islamic Jihad in the region.

Funding of Palestinian terrorist organizations in Judea and Samaria by Iran has gone up by about 10-15% and is now more than half their funding, according to defense sources talking to Calcalist.

According to those same sources, the city of Jenin is the area where much of the funding and money changing takes place, on a cash basis.

Though the IDF and security agencies do not expect to entirely end this flow, they hope their efforts in seizing and destroying the money will help stem recruitment of young people simply looking for work as well as the purchase of weapons to be used in terrorism.
