Defense Ministry to Purchase Spare Parts for Tanks and Armored Vehicles for a Billion NIS
The orders include protective and spare parts for Merkava tanks and Namer APCs, and are all being done by Israeli companies.

The Department of Production and Procurement at the Defense Ministry, in coordination with and based on the demands of the IDF’s Technology and Logistics Directorate and the DPP’s Tank and PAC Administration (Armored Fighting Vehicle), has sent out hundreds of orders amounting to a billion NIS. The orders include protective components, extraction means, and spare parts on a large scale for the Armored Corps, among others for the Merkava and Namer APCs.
The acquisition is being done from Merkava project industries working around the country, with an emphasis on the periphery, including industrial plants in Ashkelon, Maalot, Yokne’am, Migdal Ha’emek, Beer Sheva, Kiryat Shemonah, and more. In addition to new orders, the Tank and APC Administration have pushed up the supply of existing orders amounting to about 1 billion NIS.
The spare parts procurements are just part of the Defense Ministry’s policy to prioritize “blue and white” goods, in order to ensure independence in production in vital areas and to inject large budgets into the economy to strengthen it.
