Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu arrived this morning (Wednesday) to offer condolences to the family of the abductee, the late Yotam Haim, in the Shoeva settlement, accompanied by chief of staff Tzachi Braverman. During the meeting, Netanyahu announced that he would examine the possibility of recognizing the abductees as IDF martyrs.

During the visit, Netanyahu heard from Yotam's parents, Raviv and Iris, about their son and their desire to commemorate him after his death. The parents emphasized that they wanted to remember Yotam in his last act of heroism - the daring escape from Hamas captivity - and asked to examine the possibility of recognizing him by the state.

According to a statement from the Prime Minister's Office, "Netanyahu said that he would examine the request and added that the IDF has carried out a series of daring rescue operations, but we have not yet come across people who rescue themselves. The Prime Minister noted that this is a unique and very daring case."
