A 79-year-old woman was found today (Wednesday) unconscious in her home in Ramat Gan, suffering from signs of hypothermia. MDA medics and paramedics who were called to the scene gave her initial medical treatment, and then evacuated her to Sheba Hospital in Tel HaShomer in serious condition.
A senior medic in Hatzalah's motorcycle unit Elhanan Mamou said that "When I arrived at the scene, they told me that the tenant, a 79-year-old woman, has not answered the phone since last night, and now they found her lying on the floor unconscious, very cold to the touch. Together with Hatzalah medics and paramedics, we gave her Initial life-saving medical treatment, and she was evacuated in serious condition for further treatment in the trauma room at Sheba Hospital in Tel Hashomer."
A medic in the MDA's motorcycle unit, Itamar Hajbi, said that "when we entered the house, we saw the woman lying on the floor of the house and very cold to the touch. They told us that the last contact with her was yesterday and today when they came to check on her to make sure she was okay, they found her lying on the floor and immediately called us. We gave her life-saving medical treatment including anesthesia and ventilation, wrapped her in blankets to raise her body temperature and evacuated her to the hospital in serious condition."
Following the incident, MDA stated that "at Magan David Adom, the public is asked, especially during the cold winter days, to be in frequent and daily contact with family members and neighbors who are sick and elderly, who live alone, and to make sure that everything is fine and that they do not end up in a state of hypothermia."
