According to the FDD (Foundation for Defense of Democracies), a poll from December 17 published by the Hebrew University of Jerusalem showed that 56% of Israelis oppose annexing and resettling the Gaza Strip, while 33% support doing so and 11% are undecided.

As to the question of who should govern the Strip after Hamas, 11% support the idea of the PA taking over. It's worth noting that the PA has demonstrated weak control in the West Bank and pays out stipends to families of jailed or killed terrorists. Meanwhile, 23% prefer US-aligned Arab states controlling the Strip, 22% prefer the IDF, and 18% would like to see an international coalition in control.

The FDD reports that since Operation Swords of Iron broke out right after the October 7th massacre, some Western allies have mentioned their concern that the war could reverse Israel's withdrawal from the Strip in 2005. Netanyahu expressed his denial of such a move, and said that Gaza has to be under Israeli security control after the war while options are considered.
