During a special event, the Knesset salutes the heroes of the war that began on the seventh of October.
At a gathering of testimonials and stories of heroism by members of the security forces that is being held in the Knesset at the initiative of Knesset Speaker Amir Ohana, Major L. of Squadron 123 (Owl Squadron), which has been rescuing wounded people from Gaza since the outbreak of hostilities, said: "I don't feel like a hero. We are doing our job, this is what they trained us to do."
Major L. described one evacuation event: "In our squadron, we are always ready 24/7, along with an entire team in and out of the helicopter, for the moment when we are launched into a mission to evacuate the wounded. 3 weeks ago I was launched for evacuation from the Gaza Strip. It was the first time that the line was "crossed" and it puts one on alert. Everything ticks by pretty quickly. We are on the ground for a very short time and take the wounded to the hospitals. That was the first time I realized that there was a huge chain of people here to save the lives of soldiers - I did not save lives alone. Everyone takes part in the mission and we will continue to do so whenever necessary."
