Report: The IDF Began Flooding the Hamas Tunnels in Gaza

The "Wall Street Journal" reported that IDF forces began pouring seawater into the Hamas terror tunnels in the Gaza Strip, with the aim of destroying them.

The American "Wall Street Journal" newspaper reported this evening (Tuesday) that IDF forces have begun running seawater into the terror tunnels of Hamas in the Gaza Strip.

According to the report, 7 pumps are working to pump seawater into the tunnels and cause them to flood. It was also said that five of the pumps were installed in the last month, and the remaining two were installed in the last few days. The Ministry of Defense refused to comment on the publication.

As a reminder, last week it was reported in the newspaper that Israel prepared a plan to flood the tunnels in Gaza with sea water, after last month the forces finished installing pumps near the Shati refugee camp. The purpose of the program is to make the Hamas terrorists leave. These are five tunnels capable of pumping water from the sea and transferring thousands of cubic meters into the tunnels in Gaza.

According to the report, the US was divided about the plan, some government officials fear that its implementation could lead to a humanitarian disaster in the Gaza Strip, while there are American officials who express support for shutting down the tunnels. It was also said at the time that Israel had not yet received a green light from the Americans to implement the operation.
