Israel at war, the 65th day. Two weeks after he was mortally wounded in a battle in the Gaza Strip, we were informed that a 'Maglan' fighter in the reserves, Major Zvika Lavi (Levi), 30 years old, from Eli, a fighter in the 699th battalion, died of his wounds in the hospital.
Levi, a resident of the settlement Eli, was married to Talia and they have three children: Shaked, Amitai, and Aviv.
The head of the council Israel Gantz gave a eulogy: "Zvika is a priceless person, another jewel that fell on the holiness of God and the land. He joins the saints and heroes who left home and family and devoted themselves, to the sanctification of God, in this war. We share the terrible grief of the family, and we pray may God send them blessing, and will comfort and heal their pain."
His parents, Moshe and Mimi Levy, live in the settlement of Carmel in the Mount Hebron Regional Council, where they said about him: "He was in the midst of studying for a master's degree in social work, combined with work in the field. He was connected to the Torah, to action. He was always the first to help and act."
In the last two weeks, his family members asked to pray for his healing and even started the initiative to write a Torah scroll for his healing out of hope and prayer that Tzvika will wake up, and he himself, will be able to write a letter in the Torah scroll that he will write. But this evening the news came that his soul rose in the fifth candle of Hanukkah.
This brought the number of casualties in the war to 434.
