The 61st day of the war in Gaza. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu released a video in which he says that IDF forces are crowning the house of the leader of the military wing of Hamas, Yahya Sinwar.
In his words, Netanyahu said: "Two short updates: Last night I said that our forces can reach anywhere in the Gaza Strip. Now they crown Sinwar's house. So his house is not his fortress, and he can escape, but it's only a matter of time until we get him."
He also said, "Secondly, we are exerting pressure to have the Red Cross visit our abductees. Further to that, I spoke again today with the president of the Red Cross and told her to turn to Qatar, which has been proven to have leverage on Hamas, and demand Red Cross visits to our abductees, and of course supply of medicine for them."
The remarks are said against the backdrop of IDF operations in Khan Yunis in the southern Gaza Strip. The commander of the Southern Command, Major General Yaron Finkelman, said today that "the fighting in Khan Yunis is a major effort, I get the impression that it is well managed - that they control it, that they push forward. There are valuable goals here, we will go with it. Keep building it up. We pour in here what is needed, and constantly push forward facing the goals that are identified here in front of us."
