The president of the International Committee of the Red Cross, Mirjana Spoljaric, arrived today (Monday) for a visit to the Gaza Strip, this against the background of the continuation of the war in the region. Upon her arrival in Gaza, Spoljaric called on Hamas to release the abductees and allow the organization's representatives to visit those still held in the Strip.

"The suffering that people are going through is unbearable. I repeat our urgent call for the protection of civilians in accordance with the laws of war and to allow the introduction of aid without interruption," Spoljaric said. "The abductees should be released as soon as possible, and the International Committee of the Red Cross should be allowed to visit them safely."

As a reminder, in the abductee deal made last week it was agreed that the Red Cross would be able to visit the abductees who will not be released and check their health status. Despite this, Hamas has so far refused to allow representatives of the international organization to meet with the abductees. Spoljaric's visit is intended to increase the pressure on Hamas and advance the process of the visit.
