The war on underground Gaza: since the beginning of the IDF’s ground maneuver in Gaza, IDF forces have uncovered over 800 underground tunnel shafts belonging to Hamas, destroying 500 of them with explosives and sealing methods.

According to the IDF Spokesperson, some of these shafts connected between the terror organizations’ strategic assets underground. Many kilometers of tunnels have also been destroyed:

The IDF said that “the shafts were located in civilian areas, and many were located near structures such as educational institutions, kindergartens, mosques, and amusement parks, or inside them. In some of the shafts, IDF forces found many weapons left there. These findings are further proof of the cynical use the Hamas terror organization makes of the civilian population as a human shield, and as cover for its terrorist activity.”

After locating the shafts, the IDF forces do a study to understand the characteristics of the tunnels. They then prepare it for destruction and destroy it.
