While everyone is focused on events in Gaza, senior IDF officers in the north warn things are highly volatile on their front.

IDF officers warn that the situation in the north is highly volatile, with no scenario being ruled out and without a clear idea of when it will be safe for northern residents to return home.

Walla News military correspondent Amir Bohbot reports that senior IDF officers in the north warn against complacency with regard to the situation on the border with Lebanon and Hezbollah: "There is a constant threat from launches of anti-tank missiles, mortar rounds, and rockets. In this situation, the residents can't go back."

Tens of thousands of residents along the border have been evacuated from both small towns and cities within a few kilometers of the war zone, leaving many populated areas virtual ghost towns. Their demands that the IDF deal with Hezbollah and ensure their safety before their return have grown louder and more insistent since then.

The IDF itself is not clear on what it will take to ensure such security, whether outright war or a number of hard battle days.
